April 21, 2011
5:30-7:30pm
Ramada Palms – 201 E. University, Las Cruces, NM
Sponsored by Jacobs Technology and the GLCCC Commercial Space Committee
The last year has seen significant developments in the growth and maturation of Spaceport America and the presence of a viable commercial space industry in the region. Spaceport construction is nearing completion, operational contracts are out for bid, the FAA awarded a Center of Excellence program to our NM Space Grant and Spaceport America team, and launch and testing activity continues to grow.
Join us on April 21 to celebrate and learn more about the future, and to get to know the players in the local industry. We’ll be having an after-hours “mixer” at the Ramada Palms from 5:30-7:30pm, following the Greater Las Cruces Chamber Spaceport Update Luncheon earlier in the day. Jacobs Technology will be our sponsor for the evening. The Ramada will have a cash bar open, and will be providing free appetizers.
We will be updating construction progress at the Spaceport site with a slideshow presentation, providing opportunity to register your company in the Spaceport Bidders Registry database if not already signed up. Guests will include Chris Anderson, new Executive Director of the New Mexico Spaceport Authority, Will Pomerantz, VP of Special Projects for Virgin Galactic, and others.
All proceeds from the event, including a portion of the bar proceeds and a raffle will go to support the local BEST Robotics team here in Las Cruces as they seek to provide opportunities for children to learn about science, technology, mathematics, and develop skills for design and application through a design/build robotics competition.
We look forward to seeing you there and working together to build an industry that will continue to grow and have an increasing positive impact on our communities and region. See you on April 21!
