The April MVEDA Business in the Borderplex Forum will focus on the developing Life Sciences cluster in our region. The forum will feature George Mychaskiw, Founding Dean and Chief Academic Officer at the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine at New Mexico State University, Emma W. Schwartz, President of the Medical Center of the Americas Foundation, and Kevin Boberg, Vice President for Economic Development at NMSU.
The forum will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM at the Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces, 705 S. Telshor. The meeting will begin with a hot entrée buffet.
Advance registration is $25.00 per person, payable by major credit card via the secure portal on the registration form. Payment at the door with cash, check or credit card is $30.00 per person. Reservations are required. Registration closes Friday, April 3, 2015.
About the Speakers
George Mychaskiw, Founding Dean and Chief Academic Officer at the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine at New Mexico State University, is a graduate of the Yale University School of Medicine. He is a medical education expert and originator/co-founder of two new osteopathic medical colleges. He is a former health policy fellow with concentration of work in state and federal health policy, health challenges and outcomes in underserved and vulnerable populations along the Southern Border. His previous experience includes Professor and Founding Chair, Department of Anesthesiology at Nemours Children’s Hospital; Professor and Chair, Anesthesiology at Drexel University College of Medicine; and Vice-Chair, Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Emma W. Schwartz serves as President for the Medical Center of the Americas (MCA) Foundation. Ms. Schwartz is a co-author of the Society of Corporation Compliance and Ethic’s “The Complete Compliance and Ethics Manual”, and has been published in a number of medical journals. She has given many presentations on Healthcare and Corporate Compliance, as well as the development of the life sciences industry and MCA in the Paso del Norte region. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University in Human Biology with a concentration in Comparative Health Policy, and she received her Master’s in Public Health from the UCLA School of Public Health in Health Services Management.
Kevin Boberg serves as the Vice President of Economic Development at New Mexico State University. He earned bachelor’s degrees in economics and business administration, a master’s degree in industrial administrative sciences at Iowa State University, and his doctorate in business logistics at Pennsylvania State University. He has been the director and/or assistant director of the Center for Economic Development Research and Assistance and the International Business Facilitation Center. Currently, he is the Associate Dean/Director for Research and Economic Development for the NMSU College of Business and serves on the board of directors of the Arrowhead Center.
