The New Mexico Manufacturing Extension Partnership (New Mexico MEP) will host a workshop to reduce manufacturing costs entitled “Lean Manufacturing 101 for Job Shops” on September 29, 2009. The workshop will be held at the Dona Ana Community College Workforce Center, 2345 E. Nevada Avenue in Las Cruces. Everyone who is involved in producing a product – all levels of the company will benefit and be able to apply the Lean Manufacturing to reduce product costs.
Participants will learn:
- Ways to work smarter, not harder, and get more done
- Proven Lean Manufacturing techniques to reduce costs through
- Increased efficiency
- Better utilization of resources
- Improved productivity
- Reduced overtime
- How to identify and eliminate the 8 types of non-value added activities (wastes) to save time and money
- How to immediately apply Lean principles in your facility
Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. The workshop will begin at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. and includes lunch. There is not charge for attending for qualified companies* but eligibility confirmation is required prior to the workshop. Space is limited and registration is required before September 15, 2009.

*Must be a NM manufacturer with less than $32 million in sales annually or less than 500 total employees, and be approved prior to the workshop. For all others, the tuition is $350 per person.
