Today, Governor Susana Martinez announced that X2NSAT, Inc., a wireless and satellite communications company, will expand operations to Las Cruces and create up to 45 new high-tech jobs over the next several years. This announcement comes on the heels of Governor Martinez announcing Facebook’s newest data center being launched in Los Lunas.
“This is great news for Las Cruces,” said Governor Martinez. “X2NSAT brings dozens of good, high-tech jobs to the state, increases investment in New Mexico and expands our private sector economy.”
X2nSat Inc. is a 20-year-old corporation that operates in California and Georgia, with their newest expansion coming to New Mexico. X2NSAT provides wireless network and satellite communication solutions to various industries including Enterprise, IT, Rural Telephony, Maritime, Utilities and other mission-critical applications.
“X2NSAT is the kind of company New Mexico needs,” said Acting Secretary Barbara Brazil. “X2NSAT increases high-tech investment in New Mexico and brings good, economic-base jobs to our state.”
The Economic Development Department will contribute $300,000 in Local Economic Development Act (LEDA) funds toward the construction of a satellite gateway, an operations center, and logistics facility. LEDA is New Mexico’s closing fund, a tool that recruits new businesses to the state while helping those that are already here grow and thrive. Nearly zeroed out when Governor Martinez took office, she fought to grow this important tool to more than $56 million.
“We looked at a lot states before choosing New Mexico, and we couldn’t be any happier about our decision. Not only does New Mexico have a strong workforce – it’s a business friendly state that can compete with the best of them,” said Garrett Hill, CEO of X2NSAT. “I thank Governor Martinez and her economic development team for their reforms and their incentives, which ultimately led to our decision to choose this state. We look forward to working with the City of Las Cruces and moving forward with the construction of our new facility in the West Mesa Industrial Park.”
X2NSAT will hire network analysts, technical support staff, and facility management. They will offer salaries up to $100,000 and will also provide 100% healthcare coverage for all full time employees.
“X2NSat is another example of the City of Las Cruces’ efforts to attract technology centric companies to the area, fostering higher skilled employment opportunities, said Las Cruces Mayor Ken Miyagishima. “We welcome them as an addition to our growing West Mesa Industrial Park.”
The New Mexico Economic Development Department is also working with X2NSAT to assist them in applying for Job Training Incentive Program funding, which helps companies hire and train more New Mexicans as they grow. New Mexico’s JTIP has been recognized as one of the most successful in the country.
