Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM) will host its open house event free to the public on October 15, 2016 from 9 AM to 11:30 AM. BCOM is located at 3501 Arrowhead Drive in Las Cruces on the campus of New Mexico State University.
“We are excited to welcome the public to join us for the first BCOM Open House,” said John Hummer, Co-Founder & President of Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine. “It is a major step for us to begin to introduce this, first-of-a-kind, privately-funded and operated medical learning institution to the community that will directly benefit from its graduates.”
Visitors to the BCOM open house will be able to take open tours of the school’s new state-of-the-art building, which showcases the best in medical educational design. The design includes large and small classrooms, student group study areas, an outdoor courtyard, a hybrid gross-virtual anatomy laboratory, an Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) laboratory, a medical library, and a comprehensive simulation center located on the first two floors of the medical school.
The public will also be able to tour the beautiful BCOM grounds and courtyard with one of the largest water features in southern New Mexico while enjoying light refreshments. BCOM faculty, staff and students will also be on-hand to answer any of the public’s questions.
BCOM’s three-story, classic mission style building, houses an osteopathic medical school built on a seven-acre campus, located within the NMSU Arrowhead Business & Research Park. The location allows its medical students to benefit from NMSU student services and work closely with the university on joint research efforts. The school’s unique public-private partnership has become a national example to how the strategic locating of a private medical school on the campus of a major research university can improve a regions healthcare, research education, and the area economy.
