Welcome to a Billion Dollar Economic & Logistics Zone!

Finding the ideal site for business is a balancing act. There are many factors to consider, and every business has a unique list of requirements. However, there is a place where companies can find the best of everything, from all-season transportation and a diverse labor pool to low taxes and custom incentive packages. These are just a few of the seemingly millions of reasons why businesses are finding the perfect site in Southern New Mexico at the New Mexico Borderplex!

Controlling Cost of Labor
The NM Borderplex is one-third (66% of the total average) less the operational costs for labor than 29 other metropolitan areas. Skilled production, administrative support, office or clerical operations, computer operations and maintenance/material moving are on average 10 percent lower than the same 29 MSAs.

Location for Transportation
Access to transportation and intermodal hubs is vital, and the NM Borderplex delivers. Interstates 10 and 25 intersect in Doña Ana County, connecting east-west access to cities like Los Angeles, Phoenix, Tucson, and Houston. North-south traffic provides access from the Mexican border through Denver all the way to Canada. Union Pacific and BNSF offer Class 1 rail service, with a new Union Pacific 2,000-acre intermodal rail facility located in Santa Teresa. In addition, the Santa Teresa Port of Entry, New Mexico’s busiest Port of Entry with Mexico, has a six-mile overweight zone that supports international trade.

Reducing the Tax Bite
By applying the tax rate to one-third of the total assessed value, New Mexico has the lowest property tax rates in the nation. New Mexico is also lowering the corporate income tax rate from 7.9% in 2013 to 5.9% by 2018, and there are no inventory taxes.

Excellent Exemptions
Businesses can take advantage of a number of incentives and tax exemptions. The Job Training Incentive Program, one of the most flexible job-training programs in the nation, can reimburse up to 75% of an employee’s wages. A High Wages Jobs Tax Credit is available, along with a Rural Jobs Tax Credit and New Mexico’s Technology Jobs Tax Credit. In addition, The Local Economic Development Act (LEDA) grants Doña Ana County and the city of Las Cruces the ability to trade land for job creation.

Proximity to Major Markets
The NM Borderplex area is equidistant to the seaports of Southern California and Southern Texas. 3.7 million people live within a five-hour drive, not counting the large population of Chihuahua Mexico. Rail and direct Interstate highway access make major MSAs easily accessible.

Better Living
The NM Borderplex area receives about 340 days of sunshine a year, isolated from natural disasters and crippling winter conditions. Plus, Las Cruces has a lower-than-average cost-of-living index and a low crime rate.
